Well, I've placed second in both *
falingard's fan contest (with
Both Versions of Zintiel) and ~
DragonScholar's contest! (with
Cybernetics Necromancer). Needless to say I'm stoked!

But I know I can do even better! After every contest result, I feel compelled to analyse my performance, because I am adamant that I have areas that I need, and am able to improve upon. Especially since I plan to enter an OC Tournament in the next week or so, and if I'm not prepared, I have no doubt that I WILL have my ass brutally
handed to me by some punk who thinks he's better than I am. If there's anything I hate, it's losing; especially to some pretentious asshole.
Firstly -
Character Sheets. I believe that character sheets are extremely awesome. I would make them all the time if I could. I feel that they are the best way to get across the layout and construction of characters and are always full of interesting information. Though I'm now sure that I don't think everyone shares my enthusiasm. I've realised that people may not like character sheets as entries for contests and such. They seem to want less information and more action on the page. I need to size up my challenges better and decide what type of entry would be best suited for the task.
Second thing I need to watch -
Shading. I am really going to have to work on my shading; while I have come a long way in terms of shading skill, I still have a long way to go. I may need to practice without using colour, as monochrome shading helps to improve perception of depth in the image. I also know that I have a habit of becoming lazy when I colour and shade an image, since I have so many ideas and really want to get them out quickly. I must remember not to compromise quality for speed.
Third and final -
Anatomy and Faces. It has been brought to my attention that sometimes my faces (female and otherwise) and bodies lean towards a more
masculine construction. Believe it or not, there's quite a few pieces that don't make it on to here because I mess them up so much. I believe I have solved this issue in my more recent deviations, but I must remember to be vigilant as to not become complacent and slip back into my old ways.
TLDR; I must choose the right method to convey my idea; try to work to a high degree, quality over quantity, and make a proper distinction between male and female anatomical structure.
That'll do for now, probably a bit long winded, but I need to tell myself these things, otherwise I
just won't know.Thank you for reading if you actually got to the bottom of this! If you have any thoughts to add or some advice, I'd really love to hear it!
...My God I need a new DeviantID. D-:
